A sun-drenched and brisk LA evening hike to Cahuenga Peak, a favorite photo-vantage of mine, ended with a striking coyote encounter. The pack's alpha and I shared a strange moment. He knew he had a fence between us, so he ventured quite close before eventually running off into the dry brush and cacti. Where there is one there are many other hungry mouths to feed. Hide your small dogs, and don't let the dingo eat yo' baby. Coyotes are completely immersed in our urban ecosystem, and I'll happily share.
